Position Summary Information

General Description of Position

The Comprehensive Studies Department is looking for a part-time, temporary instructor to teach 1 section of College Skills for a 6 week term beginning October 11th. The class meets Monday through Thursday from 12:20 PM-1:55 PM on the Pendleton Campus. College Skills classes include selected topics such as career planning, study skills, stress management, tutoring, group guidance, and other subjects to facilitate student success.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in a teaching discipline, counseling, student affairs or closely related field. Desire to help students effectively transition into college.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the following:
Experience teaching comparable classes at the community college level.
Familiarity with Tri-County Technical College student services and organizations.
The ability to work with colleagues/students and to convey knowledge in a form that students can understand.
Adaptability to students’ needs and to different teaching situations.
Ability and desire to motivate students.
Ability to work in teams and independently.
Sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
